The Educational Festival
is organized under the guidance of the Asian Languages and Bi-lingual Education
Technical Assistance Center, a division of New York City Board of Education.
Originally it was a means of providing information to Burmese parents, especially
new immigrants through seminars on navigating the New York City public education
system.
The Education Festival has since expanded to offer guidance on other issues
important to the Burmese community. Other areas included are tertiary education,
the public health system, small business start-up, immigration law, and
voting rights. ThinGyan’s Educational Festival is usually held in
May at a New York City public school. |
